Real Art of the Deal:The Key Is How
Well You Buy, Not How Well You Sell
Some Things to Think
About
View every purchase as a
negotiation. While you can't bargain at
the grocery store or the gas station,
you can obtain some price concession in
an amazing variety of other situations.
Make a practice of offering a lower
price, and keep a written record of how
much money you save.
In every negotiation, figure out the
lowest initial offer you're comfortable
with. Then offer at least 10 percent
lower. You'll be surprised at the
savings.
Exercise patience and discipline by
stretching out negotiations, even when
you've made up your mind to buy. Walking
away when the seller thinks you're
hooked can win you additional
concessions on your return visit.
